We finally got water again! Since last Saturday, ‘till Thursday we haven’t had any water! Our water tank ran dry, and so it’s been one heck of a week! Due to the whole water issue, we decided to improvise this week! We decided to bathe ourselves in the Rio Chile! After about a 20 minute walk, we ended up down there and did our business! The water was colder than anything that I have ever been in! I believe its straight run off water from the top of the volcanoes Chachani or Misti! I froze my butt off just trying to shampoo my hair! It really makes me realize how much I love the small things in life like running hot water!
But the best of all this week was that we had a surprise baptism! This last Sunday as we were walking home to our room, we passed by the church. And there was a red Kia Picanto sitting in front of the locked up church. As we passed by, he called us over! “Elders!” So we stopped by his car and the first thing he said was, I want to get baptized! Ok, well that threw up some red flags! That never happens! So we got in his car and started talking! He proceeded to tell us that he had attended the church before, and he knows one of the girls from this ward! Another red flag went up… so we continued to talk, and he told us how the elders have been teaching him in Juliaca or even farther away! That’s near Cusco! So what we did was we set up a time to meet with him and he showed up on time! We did that every day this week, and every time he was right on time! We taught him about everything and he understood all of it! So we scheduled the baptism for right after church on Sunday! He came to all of church and then he got baptized!
Miracles do happen. If everything is too good to be true, when are you ever going to find something that actually is true? We have decided that we won’t overlook anybody ever again! So we ended this week with a baptism! His name is Frank, and he drives a red Kia Picanto as a taxi driver!
